Sumatran tiger

Room 12 had a project to find information about this tiger. Did you know that the Sumatran tiger is smaller then all living tigers and the Sumatran tigers weighs up to 260 pounds on average and is up to eight feet long. The colour of this tiger is orange and has black stripes on it and this tigers stripes are narrower then those found on other tigers. In the wild the Sumatran tiger is found only on Sumatra a large island in western Indonesia. Between 400 to 500 Sumatran tigers are still surviving in reserves and national parks, with the largest population in Sumatra's Gunung Leuser National Park. Tigers hunt at night; they make a large kill every week or so. Sumatran tigers eat's tapir, wild boar and deer, as well as smaller animals, like monkeys, birds and fish.  All tigers are mammals. Mammals are warm blood that mean's they give birth to their baby's. Tigers attack their prey for the sides or back. Some tigers can be white with black stripes. Tigers live in hot jungles and shady forests. There are no tigers in New Zealand. There are five different kinds or subspecies of tigers alive in the world today. These tigers are called Siberian, South China, Indochinese, Bengal, and Sumatran. Only about 5,000 to 7,400 tigers are left in the wild. The length of a tigers tail is 3 to 4 feet (90 to 120 cm). Tiger cubs are born blind and weigh only about 2 to 3 pounds (1 kg), depending on the subspecies. Baby tigers live on milk for 6 to 8 weeks before the female begins taking them to kills to feed. Most tigers have an orange coat with dark brown or black stripes some have white stripes. There are only about 350 to 400 Sumatran Tigers left in the wild. Tigers hunt at night. Tigers are hunters, and they will eat just about anything that moves. The Sumatran Tiger likes to hide in the under brush and pounce on its prey, using its long, powerful legs, jaws, and claws to catch and kill their chosen meal. They have extremely good eyesight and hearing, which helps them track their prey. In the wild, their preferred prey seems to be wild boar and deer, and they can eat more than 40 pounds of meat at one time.
                                             My tigers name is Rocky.

WOW reflection

On Thursday was our WOW trashion show. We had to do it in the afternoon and 6:30 at night. Our inspiration was a kiwi. We did a kiwi because it is native to New Zealand.  Before we went on stage we had to get our costumes and speeches ready. The materials we used was old carpet, colour cote and other materials we used. It was really fun making the costume and writing the speech.

I also liked watching the puppet plays and showing my puppet. My group puppets were made out of coat hangers. They were really fun to make. When our assembly was finished Mrs.Paton presented the class award. Our assembly was really fun I want to do it again.
